Office of Governor William P. Clements, Jr. February 14, 1979 For Immediate Release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Paul T. Wrotenbery of Austin as the Director of Budget and Planning for the Governor's Office. Wrotenbery, 44, has been a group vice president and director of Informatics, a computer software firm. He had been chairman, president, and chief executive officer of United System International Inc. of Dallas, until it was purchased by Informatics. Prior to that, he held management positions with Tracor, Inc. and I.B.M. He holds bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees from the University of Texas. He is a native of Pollok, Texas in Angelina County, and he served in the United States Marines from 1952 to 1954. Governor Clements said, "With his extensive background in business, Paul Wrotenbery will be extremely useful in helping me achieve my objective of efficiency in state government. Paul's appointment is in keeping with my pattern of selecting persons of high quality for my staff." Wrotenbery said, "I am extremely interested in pursuing Governor Clements' goals in respect to employing sound management techniques in state government.
