OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS JR. August 14, 1979 For 11:00 a.m. Release Governor Bill Clements today met with Governor Enrique Cardenas Gonzalez of Tamaulipas, Mexico, to discuss five topics of mutual concern. The discussion is the first of four scheduled by Governor Clements with governors of neighboring states in Mexico. Topics on the agenda for the initial session in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, are the illegal drug traffic, undocumented workers, exchange of energy, industrial growth and exchange of information on agriculture. Governor Clements and Governor Cardenas will address a mid-day meeting of the Tamaulipas legislature at the capitol. They scheduled a 1:50 p.m. news conference following their official meeting. The Governor and Mrs. Clements will place a wreath on the monument of the first governor of Tamaulipas, General Jose Bernardo Guiterrez de Lara. They also will visit a government housing project during the afternoon following a lunch with Governor and Mrs. Cardenas. Ciudad Victoria Mayor Jorge Bladimir Joch will present distinguished guests certificates to Governor and Mrs. Clements soon after their arrival at Aeropuerto del Petaqueno. They will return 'o Austin Tuesday night. Governor Clements will confer with Nuevo Leon Governor Alfonso Martinez Dominguez in Monterrey Thursday; with Coahuila Governor Oscar Flores Tapia in Saltillo August 27 and with Chihuahua Governor Manuel Bernardo Aguirre in Chihuahua City August 29.
