L. Office of Governor William P. Clements, Jr. June 12, 1979 For Immediate Release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Harry M. Whittington of Austin to the Texas Board of Corrections. Whittington, 52, an attorney, will succeed Robert J. Bacon, M.D. of Houston, for a six-year term extending to February 15, 1985. Governor Bill Clements also announced the appointment of Mayor Woody W. Woods of Fort Worth to the Advisory Council on Community Affairs. Woods succeeds ,Mayor James J. McConn of Houston, whose term expired. Reappointed to the Advisory Council on Community Affairs are: Donald W. Harris of San Antonio, representing the Texas Association of School Boards; Mayor Cesar Gonzalez of San Benito; Louis D. Whitehead of Fort Davis, a citizen member. All appointed to the Advisory Council on Community Affairs will serve two-year terms extending to January 31, 1981. Governor Clements also announced the appointment of Peyton Lake of Tyler, 35, to the Board of Directors of the Angelina and Neches River Authority for a six-year term extending to September 5, 1981. Lake, Vice President of Lake Ronel Oil Company, is replacing N. C. Garrison of Garrison, who resigned.
