OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. May 15, 1979 For Immediate Release: Governor Bill Clements today named George S. Cone of Rockport as a member of the Banking Section, Finance Commission of Texas. Cone succeeds Edwin Brown of Troup for a six-year term extending to February 1, 1985. The 64-year-old Cone is president of Live Oak State Bank of Fulton and was with the First National Bank in Midland for 22 years. The Governor today also announced nomination of John L. "Jack" Burges of Waco to succeed Lyndon Olson Sr. of Waco on the Board of Directors of the Brazos River Authority. Burgess, 42, is president of Burgess Marketing Inc., wholesale gasoline distributorship. He will serve a six-year term extending to February 1, 1985. Mrs. James F. Biggart Jr.of Dallas was named by the Governor to succeed Henry L. Van De Walle Sr. of San Antonio on the Texas Historical Commission. Van De Walle resigned, and Mrs. Biggart will serve a six-year term expiring January 1, 1985. Mrs. Biggart is vice chairman of the Dallas County Historic Commission, a trustee of the Dallas County Heritage Society and a member of the Dallas Landmark Preservation Commission.
