OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, J. April 6, 1981 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments: Robert D. Gunn of Wichita Falls to the Texas Board of Corrections for a six- year term extending to February 15, 1987. Gunn, 56, replaces James Marvin Windham of Livingston, whose term expired. Gunn is an independent geologist and petroleum consultant. He attended University of Minnesota and University of Tulsa graduate school. Johnnie M. Benson of Fort Worth and Ben M. Durr of Denton to the Texas Board of Health for six-year terms extending to February 1, 1987. Benson, 51, is owner and administrator of Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Durr, 47, is administrator of Westgate Hospital. Both are being reappointed to the board. Hal M. Bateman of Lubbock to the State Securities Board for a six-year term, extending to January 16, 1987. Bateman, 50, replaces J.C. Pace, Jr. of Fort Worth, whose term expired. Bateman is a professor of law at Texas Tech University. He attended Rice University and received a law degroc at Southern Methodist School of Law. Dr. Hanes Hanby Brindley, Sr. of Temple to the Commission on Jail Standards for a six-year term extending to January 31, 1987. Dr. Brindley, 62, is being reappointed to the commission. He attended the University of Texas and Washing,_on University medical school. He is an orthopedist at Scott & White Clinic. Charles E. Forester of Fentress to the Metric System Advisory Council for a two-year term extending to August 29, 1983. Forester, 40, is state supervisor of weights and measures. He is being reppointed to the council. Dr. Jesse Donald Cone of Odessa to the District Review Committee for a term extending to January 15, 1982. Dr. Cone , 60, fills the unexpired term of Dr. William Hall Wade of El Paso, who resigned. Dr. Cone is in family practice and surgery. He attended Abilene Christian University and Oklahoma University Medical Branch. Captains Nathan R. Branch and James R. Borup of Galveston County to be Branch Pilots for the Ports of Galveston County for four-year terms extending to January 31, 1985. Both completed their deputyship and are qualified to serve as branch pilot. •
