WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. GOVERNOR MEMORANDUM TO: WPC Po ily PS4 SUBJECT: MUSE AIR rn OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR STATE CAPITOL AUSTIN, TEXAS 78711 May 5, 1982 , Pte, Ed Lang, Vice President of Marketing for MUSE AIR, called to ask your help in their dispute with the FAA. He wants you to call Jim Baker at the White House or George Bush, if he is back in the country. 1 Mr. Lang says you have been briefed on the situation by John Craddock in Senator Tower's Office. Secretary of Transportation, Drew Lewis, and the Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board have already asked the FAA to make a special ruling for MUSE. Lang says MUSE AIR will go bankrupt if they cannot fly their two new $20 million airplanes in and out of Dallas and Houston and that the psychological and economic impact of that on top of Braniff's troubles will be severe. Lang and Lamar Muse will be pleased to meet with you or furnish you with any information you need. His telephone number is 214/357-6700. He also asked me to call him and tell him whether or not you will call Jim Baker. PS/cp ri (A-%\"\% ti• 'CZ) (AA- cLfrii\i\c a-- (A).x_
