WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. GOVERNOR TO: Tobin Armstrong Allen Clark David Dean Jim Kaster George Strake Jon Ford FROM: Doug Brown OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR STATE CAPITOL AUSTIN, TEXAS 78711 May 27, 1980 Joe Kirven Jim Cicconiv J. Rick Montoya"' Paul Wrotenbery: 4Q44-41-6ttrii- Wiest,. V G. G. Garcia I/ SUBJECT: Monthly Status Redrt on Major Issues 1. The Governor will again be having a meeting to discuss the major issues we currently face with selected persons from outside the staff. He feels this type of outside input is very important. 2. The Governor requests that each of us prepare a concise summary of the major issues we face in our respective areas, along with a short, confidential analysis of possible ramifications, for discussion at that meeting. He realizes the difficulty of boiling down many such issues to concise form, but it is important to assure that all major points can be touched on. There is no need to mention the routine, ongoing work in your sections unless a major issue is involved. 3. I would ask that you have this update to Georg e Bayoud by Jine25,, 1980, at 4:00PM, in order to make certainit can be available for the meeting. If there are no major issues in your area that you feel will need to be raised or discussed, please send a short note to that effect so we know you considered this. 4. This type of report will be requested approximately every month, and the Governor considers it a priority. 5. Thanks for your help. cc: George Bayoud
