GOVERNOR OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR •sTATE CAPITOE AUSTIN, TEXAS 78711 November 12, 1979 Qhe Honorable Joe Wyatt, Jr. Congress of the United States House of Representatives Washington, D. C. 20515 Dear Congressman: Your efforts in regard to alleviation of the economic dislocation resulting from the IXTOC I are most appreciated. As I wrote earlier, in regard to HR 5338, I do support such efforts and encourage the continued efforts of you and your Texas colleagues in this regard. I am interested in any approach that will provide relief for docu- mented losses and trust that my support for both 5338 and 5577 will not be perceived as ambivalent, but will be accepted as a demonstra- tion of my desire for expeditious action. The State's disaster coordinator has been in contact with your staff on this matter and has previously voiced positive interest in this matter. Please keep me advised as to the progress of both initiatives. Sincerely, William P. Clements, Jr. Governor of Texas DES/FTC/ccc
