GOVERNOR The Honorable Mark White Attorney General of Texas Supreme Court Building Austin, Texas, 78711 Dear General White: June 24, 1982 In the one month period since you became the Democratic nominee for Governor, you have written me twelve letters dealing with such matters as prisons, probation and parole, permanent funding for non-PUF schools, and the deterioration of our highways. It is obvious that your sudden interest in writing me on practically any matter of State concern is campaign motivated. Perhaps you are trying to get in a position where you can say, "I told you so" if something develops on one of these matters in the future. If you really want to do something to help in these areas of concern to the State, you should give me your suggestions as to solutions, their costs, and source of funds to cover the costs. WPC,Jr.:jh Sincerely, William P. Clements, Governor
