TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: 02916 • ME JORANDUM The Honorable William P. Clements, Jr., Governor of Texas George M. Underwood, Jr., Chairman, Texas Aeronautics Commission December 22, 1981 Ellington AFB This follows up my memo to you of November 20, 1981, concerning the acquisition of Ellington AFB for use as a general aviation reliever airport. A positive indication has been provided to the Texas Aeronautics Commission (TAC) by the cities of Houston and Pasadena that they are actively pursuing the development of proposals to acquire the facility. Both cities have engaged well known and reputable consulting firms to prepare the required documents for submission to the federal government by January 29, 1981. It is the TAC's intent to continue in the proceedings only as an interested bystander and to provide both cities any possible assistance they might request. I am sure the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and General Services Administration (GSA) will ask the TAC to participate in the final evaluations of the proposals. I will keep you informed of developments. 'J 001 RE.SPOIASE-1 al p Vi.a-WW0 410 East 5th Street, P.O. Box 12607, Capitol Station, Austin, Texas 78711. (512) 476-9262
