"Bob" Close of Perryton will join Governor Bill Clements' staff January 13 as assistant legislative liaison representative. Close, 49, is completing his third term in the House of Representatives. He served for 12 years as county attorney of Ochiltree County, and is a director of a savings and loan association in Perryton. He is a partner in the Perryton law firm of Lemon, Close, Atkinson, Shearer and McCutcheon. As a state representative from the 10-county 64th district of the Texas Panhandle, Close was vice chairman of the Constitutional Amendments Committee and served on the Natural Resources and Local and Consent Calendar committees. He holds a business administration degree from Texas Tech University and a law degree with honors from The University of Texas. He was a four-year football letterman at Texas Tech. "I am proud to welcome Bob Close to our legislative staff," Governor Clements said. "He will add strength to our veteran team headed by former State Representative Jim Kaster of El Paso. Former Representative Hilary Doran of Del Rio again will be joining the legislative liaison staff in January. We will be working closely with both houses of the legislature on a broad- ranging program addressed to the issues and concerns facing Texas."
