OFFICE OF GOVERNOR UILLIAM P. CLEMENT S JR. August 4, 1981 For Immediate Release: Governor Clements today announced that Pr. Jarvis Miller has joined the Governor's staff as a Special Assistant for Planning. In his newly-defined role, Dr. Miller will work within the Governor's Office of Budget and Planning, where he will be responsible for lona term planning in State government. In addition to the Texas 2000 long term planning project launched by Governor Clements, a major new state economic model is under development to guide plannina. "I am pleased to have a man of Dr. miller's status and experience join our staff," Governor Clements stated. "Through his assistance, we will strengthen our lon9 term planning capabilities with resulting increases in efficiency and effectiveness." Dr. Miller is a former president of Texas A & r University, and for the last several months has been assisting the Governor's Office in various projects related to improvement of management in higher education.
