OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. July 17, 1981 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments: Harvey Ray Mitchell of Dallas to the Finance Comission of Texas for a six-Year term extending to February 1, 1987. Mitchell, 46, is president and director of STM Mortgage Company. He received bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of Texas. Mitchell is past president of the Dallas Mortgage Bankers Association and the Texas Bankers Association. He will replace Abe M. Katz of Corpus Christi, whose term expired. William Johns Burnett of San Antonio to the State Property Tax Board for a six-year term extending to March 1, 1987. Burnett, 38, is chief appraiser for Bexar County Appraisal District. He will replace Jim W. Weatherby of Kerrville, whose term expired. Sammy Leach, Jr. of Lufkin to the Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education for a term extending to August 30, 1981. Leach, 36, is Sheriff of Angelina County and will fill the unexpired term of Dewey Presley of Dallas, who resigned. Dodd Miller of Dallas and Henry Smith of College Station to the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education for six-year terms extending to June 11, 1987. Miller, 42, is fire chief of the Dallas Fire Department. He is President of the Texas Fire Chief Association. Smith, 64, is division head of the Firemen's Training School at Texas ALVI University. Both are being reappointed to the commission. Maurice D. Harrell of Gonzales to the Civil Air Patrol Commission for a six-year term extending to May 31, 1987. Harrell, 52, owns a cattle company. He is being reappointed. William A. Beinhorn, Jr. of San Antonio to the Board of Directors of the Nueces River Authority for a six-year term extending to February 1, 1987. Beinhorn is a rancher and chairman of the board of the National Bank of Dimmit County. He is chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Municipal Advisory Council of Texas. He will replace Joseph Stubblefield Mbrris of San Antonio, whose term expired. Reynold Veselka of Hallettsville to the Lavaca County Flood Control District No. 3 Board of Directors for a two-year term extending to January 1, 1983. Veselka, 41, is president of the First National Bank of Hallettsville. He will replace Jerome Kocian of Hallettsville, whose term expired.
