March 9, 1981 For immediate release: Governor Clements today asked the Senate to confirm the following appointments: Marvin Selig of Seguin to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority for a six-year term extending to December 31, 1987. Selig, 57, will replace J.R. Thornton of San Marcos, whose term expired. Selig is chief executive officer of Structural Metals, Inc. George A. Smith, Jr of Dallas and Dale 0. Simpson of Dallas to be members of the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies for six-year terms to expire January 31, 1987. Smith, 73, is chairman of the board of Smith Alarms Systems, Inc. He is being reappointed to the board. Simpson, 65, is president of an investigative organization. He will replace Robert C. Taylor of Houston, whose term expired. Shirley M. Binder of Austin and Gary W. Bruner of Arlington to be members of the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation for six-year terms to expire January 31, 1987. Mrs. Binder, 50, is assistant vice president for student affairs and director of student financial aid at The University of Texas at Austin. Bruner, 36, is director of public affairs for American Petrofina, Inc. Mrs. Binder and Bruner are being reappointed to the corporation. Gordon B. Broyles of Palestine to be a member of the Upper Neches River Municipal Water Authority for a term to expire January 1, 1987. Broyles, 64, will replace John B. McDonald of Palestine,whose term expired. Broyles is in the oil and gas business.
