Murrah to the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board.
OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. May 2, 1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments: Alvin Louis Zimmerman of Houston to be Judge of the 309th Family District Court, Harris County, until the next general election and until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified. Zimmerman, 36, is an attorney in private practice and partner,Webb,Fant & Zimmerman law fin He will replace Judge Herman W. Mead of Houston, who is deceased. John F. Sammons, Jr. of Temple to the Mayors Advisory Committee to the Governor for a two-year term to expire September 1, 1980. Sammons, 30, is Mayor of Temple and vice-president and general manager of a wholesale industrial and building supplies firm. He will fill the unexpired term of Mayor Edward P. Rodrigues of Eagle Pass, who resigned. Helen Hooper of Palestine to the Statewide Health Coordinating Council for a two-year term to expire October 21, 1981. Mrs. Hooper, 51, is director of federal programs for the Palestine Independent School District. She will.replace Mr. Bonny E. Roark of Atlanta, whose term expired. Marlene LaRoe of Houston to the Texas State Board of Examiners in Social Psychotherapy for a six-year term to expire January 31, 1981. Mrs. LaRoe, 49, is a social psychotherapist and will fill the unexpired term of Dr. James Lane Stricklin of Carrollton, who resigned. Dr. David J. Murrah of Lubbock to the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board for a three-year term to expire January 23, 1983. Dr. Murrah, 38, is University archivist and director of the Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University. He will replace Mr. Sylvan Dunn of Lubbock, whose term expired.
