OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. October 16, 1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments to the Statewide Health Coordinating Council: Bill Boswell, 43, of Brady for a term to expire October 21, 1981. Boswell is administrator of Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital and will fill the unexpired term of Boone Powell, Jr. who resigned. Ben Gallant,46, of Corpus Christi. Gallant is president of Dynamic Chemicals International, Inc. Val Jean Hide, 46, of Houston. She is owner of a medical consultants firm. Louis E. Gibson, M.D. of Corsicana. Dr. Gibson,57 , is a physician at the Medical Arts Clinic. Jose L. (Pepe) Gonzalez, 56, of Laredo. Gonzalez is admini- strator of the Laredo-Webb County Health Department. John T. King, Ph.D., of Austin. Dr. King, 59, is president of Huston-Tillotson College. Per Harald Langsjoen, M.D., of Temple. Dr. Langsjoen, 59, is a consultant in cardiology and chief of cardiovascular laboratory at Scott & White Clinic. Jose San Martin III, O.D. of San Antonio. Dr. Martin,37 , practices optometry at his own clinic. Irwin R. Salmanson, 47, of Austin. Salmanson is an attorney and partner in Salmanson, Smith & Mouer law firm. John H. Selby Sr., M.D. of Lubbock. Dr. Selby, 60, is a general and thoracic surgeon. Gallant, Hide, Dr. Gibson, Gonzalez, Dr. King, Dr. Langsjoen, Dr. Martin, Salmanson and Selby are being reappointed to the council for two-year terms to expire October 21, 1982. The terms become effective October 22, 1980. Christin Hartung, 39, of Houston. She is a Houston city council- woman and will replace William F. Havey of Houston, whose term expires. Boone Powell, Jr. of Dallas to replace Dr. Louis T. Bogy of San Antonio, whose term expires. Powell, 43, is president of Baylor Univer- sity Medical Center. Ricardo Saldana,50 , of Midland to replace Mrs. LaVonne Unsell of Denton, whose term expires. Saldana is a counselor at Midland College. Hartung, Powell and Saldana will serve two-year terms to expire October 21,1982. The terms are effective October 22,1980.
