OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS JR. January 27, 1981 For Immediate Release: Governor Bill Clements Jr. today announced his intention to reappoint Lyndon Olson Jr. of Waco to the State Board of Insurance. The Governor said he will ask the Senate Wednesday to confirm Olson to a new six-year term, effective January 31. The term would extend to January 31, 1987. Olson, 33, served in the House of Representatives for three terms. He was named to the Board of Insurance in December 1978 by former Governor Dolph Briscoe to fill an unexpired term. He served as chairman of the Board January 2-June 11, 1979. Olson received a bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University in 1969 and attended Baylor School of Law. He was selected as one of five outstanding Texans by the Texas Jaycees in 1978. Texas Municipal League designated him as its "legislator of the year" in 1977. "I think he has done a superb job on the Insurance Board,' Governor Clements stated. "I am delighted that he has agreed to continue his service to the State of Texas."
