OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. April 25, 1979 For Immediate Release: Governor Bill Clements today nominated Dr. Richard W. Ragsdale of Denton as a member of the Texas Board of Health. Dr. Ragsdale, 56, will succeed Dr. Philip Lewis of Houston as an optometrist member of the Board. He was named to a six-year term extending to February 1, 1985. Governor Clements appointed Dr. Ruth Bain of Austin to succeed Dr. Joe T. Gilbert of Austin to a six-year term on the State Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Bain, 60, is a physician in general practice. The term extends to April 13, 1985. The Governor named John P. Underwood of Austin as an employee representative on the Texas Industrial Commission. Underwood, 34, a research implementation engineer with the Texas Highway and Public Transportation Department, succeeds Jackie St. Clair of Austin to a six-year term expiring February 15, 1985. William G. Nikolis of Carrollton was designated by the Governor as a member of the Texas Advisory Commission on Intergovernmen- tal Relations . Nikolis,34, a U.S. Department of Energy employee, will fill the unexpired term of Paul H. Story of Dallas who resigned. The term will expire August 29. Jose Luna of Houston was appointed to succeed Tom Lanier of Linden on the Advisory Council on Small Business Assistance. The six-year term expires January 31, 1985. Luna, 45, is associated with d real estate firm.
