August 13, 1979 For immediate release: • Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Robert B, Baum of Houston to be judge of the 314th Family District Court of Harris County. Baum, 59, a Houston attorney in private practice, was nominated to succeed Judge Wallace H. Miller of Houston, who resigned. The appointment is effective September 16, 1979; and extends until the next general election. Governor Clements also announced the following appointments: Henry C. Smyth, Jr. of Dallas to serve a six-year term, expiring May 31, 1985, on the Texas Civil Air Patrol Commission. Smyth, 50, manages the advanced systems programs at Bell Helicopter Textron. He replaces Noell C. Rather of Dallas, whose term expired. Alcus Greer of Houston to serve a six-year term, expiring June 11, 1985, on the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education. Greer, 63, is fire marshal of the Houston Fire Department. He is being reappointed. Vittoria K. Argento of Duncanville to the Texas Air Control Board for a term to expire September 1, 1979. Argent°, 42, is a visiting assistant professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. He will fill the unexpired term of Joe C. Bridgefarmer of Dallas, who resigned. Argento will represent professional engineers on the board. David Lee Collier of Houston to the Con-mission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education 'for a six-year term expiring August 30, 1985. The -appointment is effective August 31, 1979. Collier, 44, is a detective in .the homocide division of the Houston Police Department. He replaces Robert R. Gladney of Angleton, whose term will expire. # # #
