May 29, 1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Mayor Thane Akins of Midland and Mayor Judy Flanders of Borger to the Mayors Advisory Council for terms to expire September 1, 1980. Akins, 46, is a joint interest superintendent for Arco Oil and Gas. He will replacc former Mayor Ernest Angelo of Midland, who is no longer eligible to serve on the council. Flanders, 40, will rcplace former Mayor Jerry McClure of Borger, who is no longer eligible to serve on the council.
