Office of Governor William P. Clements, Jr. April 18, 1979 For Immediate Release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Robert H. Dedman of Dallas to be a member of the State Board of Control for a term to expire Aug. 31, 1981. Dedman replaces Charles S. Coates, Sr. of Brenham, who resigned. Governor Clements also announced the appointment of Dr. James Knox Peden, M.D. of Dallas to be a member of the State Board of Medical Examiners for a term to expire April 13, 1985. Dr. Peden is replacing Dr. Robert Harris, M.D. of Houston, whose term expired. Dedman, 53, is founder and chairman of the board of Club Corporation of America , which owns and operates country clubs, city clubs, and real estate developments. He holds a BA, BS, and LLB from the University of Texas and a LLM from Southern Methodist University. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Dedman is a director of First National Bank in Dallas and Fuqua Industries of Atlanta, Georgia. He is a trustee and is on the board of governors of S.M.U., where the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports is named for him. He was honored by the S.M.U. School of Business as Entrepreneur of the Year in Texas in 1976.
