OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. November 5, 1979 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments: Bill G. Glasson, 51, of Corpus Christi to the State Board of Barber Examiners for a six-year term to expire May 19,1985. Glasson, a barber at Hamlin Barber Shop, will replace Winford C. Newby of Atlanta, whose term expired. Gilbert E. Steinke, 60, of Kingsville to the Governor's Commission on Physical Fitness for a six-year term to expire June 13, 1985. Steinke, athletic director and professor of health and physical education at Texas A&I University, will replace Lawrence H. Gerhard, Jr. of Dallas, whose term expired. John Buffo of Raymondville, Juan Garcia of Lyford, and Joe J. Garza of Harlingen to the Rio Grande Valley Municipal Water Authority for two-year terms to expire April 30, 1981. Buffo, 36, is an accountant with Mothershead, Hamilton, Day & Mayor accounting firm. He will replace Richard Gutierrez of Rio Grande City, whose term expired. Garcia, 49, will replace Bill Rapp of Raymondville, whose term expired. Garcia is a farmer. Garza, 51, is a general accountant and will replace Omar Rodriguez of San Benito, whose term expired. Captain Billy Joe Robbins of Corpus Christi, Captain John 0. Teller of Corpus Christi, and Captain Frederick J. Herbert of Corpus Christi to the position of Branch Pilot for Port Aransas Bar, Corpus Christi Bay and Tributaries to be effective November 1, 1979. They will serve four-year terms to expire Novembolr 1, 1983. Captains Robbins, Teller, and Herbert have completed four years of service as branch pilots and are being reappointed.
