OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENT6, JR. February 25, 1982 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Dr. Charles W. Benson of El Paso, William E. Crockett of Katy, Linda Bohls Ellis of Del Rio, Carolyn Harrell of Gonzales, Farris W. Sharp of Dallas and Esther Gonzalez Buckley of Laredo to the Teachers' Professional Practices Contnission for two-year terms extending to August 31, 1983. Dr. Benson, 44, is Superintendent of Ysleta Independent School District. He attended Sul Ross State and received a Ph.D. from New Mexico State University. Crockett, 42, is a fifth grade teacher at Cimarron Elementary School and founder and first President of Texas Professional Educators. He received a bachelor's degree from University of Houston and Master's degree from Sam Houston State University. Mrs. Ellis is a teacher for the San Felipe-Del Rio Con- solidated School District and received a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas and master's degree from Sul Ross State University, Del Rio Extension. Mts. Harrell is chairman of the Business Department and teaches business at Gonzales High School. She received bachelor's and master's degrees from The Univer- sity of Texas. Mrs. Sharp is Principal of R.L.Thornton Elementary School and received a bachelor's degree from Huston-Tillotson College and master's degree from Southern Methodist University. Mrs. Buckley is a ninth grade teacher at J.W. Nixon High School and received a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas and master's degree from Laredo State University. Dr. Benson, Crockett, Mrs. Ellis, and Mrs. Harrell are being reappointed. Mts. Sharp is being reappointed to the commission in a different category - elementary school principal - replacing Pamela Horton of Austin. Mrs. Buckley will replace Geraldine Schwarzbach of El Paso, whose term expired.
