OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: REGGIE BASHUR JUNE 12, 1987 W 512/463-1826 MADRIGAL NAMED PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AUSTIN -- Governor Bill Clements today announced that Joe Madrigal has accepted a position as program director for the Texas Department of Community Affairs. As a program director, Madrigal will be responsible for conducting the compliance and managerial monitoring of contracts within the Job Training Partnership Act of TDCA. He will coordinate the management training of executive staff of the Training and Employment Development Division of TDCA. "Joe Madrigal has the background and experience to do an outstanding job as program director for TDCA," Clements said. "I am delighted he has accepted this position. He will join a first-rate group of people in that important agency." Prior to his new appointment, Madrigal was the governor's assistant for Hispanic and Latin American affairs. Cynthia Ramirez, Madrigal's assistant, will serve as acting director. In an effort to enhance effectiveness and coordination, the Hispanic and Latin American Affairs Office now will team up with the Governor's Office of State Affairs, whose primary focus will be economic development and Hispanic affairs. -- 30 --
