The following is a brief summary of the status of each legis- lative project area: Anti Crime Problem areas are Wiretap, Oral confessions, Instruction of Jury on Paroles, Pardons/paroles. Aggravated Rape and Shock Probation are moving well. Public Education Package is moving well except for Master Teacher bill; Jackson has substitute which may sell. Curriculum Revision has run into right wing opposition in the Senate led by some Republican members of Education Committee, especially Leedom. Energy/Environment Gasohol tax repeal appears dead. one was signed today. Initiative and Referendum Nuclear waste bills are moving well, first Reported favorably from House subcommittee as was alternate proposal by Sharp providing for I & R on tax and spending only. Committee will likely vote out Sharp's bill which is fine with us; have a chance in the Senate. Management/Government Effectiveness if we pass it out of the House, we may Most bills eem to be moving; Hobby has problems with Personnel Management, but we are working on it. Dues checkoff was signed last week. Semos needs a push on Small Business Assistance. Water Trust Fund was reported from Committee last week, and still needs some amendments before we can live with it. War on Drugs Perot is carrying the ball, bills seem to be moving due to their popularity among voters.
