INVESTMENTS PETER O'DONNELL, JR. 1401 ELM STREET, SUITE 3366 DALLAS, TEXAS 75202-2943 May 12, 1989 Honorable William P. Clements, Jr. Governor of the State of Texas Capitol Building Austin, Texas 78701 Dear Bill: Enclosed is an article about former President Carter that appeared in the NEW YORK TIMES yesterday. There are several points of interest: 1. Carter describes his relations with the Bush administration as "superb." 2. The Carter Center which opened in 1986 has an interest in a range of programs, including technology. 3. Some observers think that Mr. Carter's reputation has risen more among political insiders than among the public as a whole. 4. Apparently Mr. Carter still has a strong interest in public affairs and a high energy level. This suggests to me that he could be recruited to be an advocate of the SSC and would be effective if he were. With best wishes. Sincerley yours, Peter O'Donnell, Jr. cc: Thomas W.
