/.113 Council Update THE GOVERNOR CLEMENTS COMMITTEE. 807 Brazos, Suite 1002 Austin, Texas 78701 / Phone: (512) 474-6912 May 20, 1980 To: Governor Clements, Rita Clements, H. R. Bright, Peter O'Donnell, Jr. Jim Francis '?Ir7Richard Collins Energy Production 27 Members We had a great meeting and dinner. Everyone thought it was a very productive and successful day. The remaining 3 memberships will be offered to major companies. Mail follow-up will begin Monday, May 19. Insurance Council Perry has said that he will complete the council if $1,000 is the fee for membership. He says he cannot do it with a $5,000 fee. Collins politely accepted his resignation and will see Bill Seay, Friday, May 23. Perry did contact Harold Hook, the new CEO at American General, who expressed interest. Collins will follow-up after the meeting with Seay. Energy Distribution 23 Members Collins had a good meeting with Paul Howell, however, Howell does not want to serve on the council with the oil jobbers. He does not feel that it is appropriate for him to serve. He seems to think that the big company men should not be on the same council with the jobbers. He very much supports the Governor and will solicit several major companies that have not been asked before. Other Councils We will try to begin the Manufacturing and Construction Councils next. For manufacturing, Bum Bright will talk to Mark Shepard and for Construction, we should consider Henry Beck, Ray Nasher or John Eulich. Nasher is the best "doer" in the group. y‘e.0 AA•sir- (A10)44..P. ol. adv. paid by The Governor Clements Committee, James B. Francis, Jr., Treasurer, 807 Brazos, Austin, Texas.
