OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. October 16, 1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Walter S. Smith, Jr. of Waco to be Judge of the 54th Judicial District Court of Texas, McLennan County, until the 1982 general election and until his successor is duly elected and qualified. The appoint- ment is effective November 1, 1980. Smith, 39, will replace Judge Carl C. Anderson of Waco, who resigned effective midnight October 31, 1980. Smith is an attorney in Fulbright, Winniford, Bice and Marable law firm. He holds bachelor's and law degrees from Baylor University. He and his wife, Jill, have four children.
