OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. November 24, 1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Judge Lynn N. Hughes of Houston to be Judge of the 189th Judicial District_Court, Harris County, until the next general election and until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified. Judge Hughes, 39, is Judge of the 165th Judicial District Court, Harris County. He received a bachelor's degree from The University of Alabama and a law degree from The University of Texas. Judge Hughes will replace Judge Jack Smith, Harris County, who was elected to the First Court of Civil Appeals, Harris County. Hughes' appointment is effective January 1, 1981.
