Appointments include Olen Underwood to be Judge of the 284th Judicial District; James C. Atkins, Roland Adamson, and Alfred L. Brooks, Jr., to the Board of Directors of the Brazos River Authority; Paul C. Murphy to the Texas Judicial Council; William C. English to the Texas Surplus Property Agency; Jose M. Blanco to the Texas Amusement Machine Commission; and Jack H. Barton to the Family Farm Advisory Council.
OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. April 16, 1981 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today asked the Senate to confirm the following appointments: Olen Underwood of Conroe to be Judge of the 284th Judicial District Court, Montgomery County, until the next general election and until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified. Underwood, 38, is a partner in a law firm. He attended The University of Texas, The University of Houston and Bates School of Law. Underwood is past president of the Montgomery County Bar Association. James C. Atkins, Jr. of Lake Jackson, Roland Adamson of Richmond, and Alfred L. Brooks, Jr. of Bellville to be members of the Board of Directors of the Brazos River Authority for six-year terms extending to February 1, 1987. Atkins, 42, is president of a real estate development firm. He replaces Sam Rowe of Alvin, whose term expired. Adamson, 35, is general manager of The George Foundation, an oil and gas production, farming and ranching operation. He replaces Paul Clifton Boyd of Temple, whose term expired. Brooks, 72, is retired. He previously served as chairman of the board of First National Bank of Bellville. Brooks is being reappointed to the board. Paul C. Murphy, III of Huntsville to be a member of the Texas Judicial Council for a four-year term extending to January 1, 1985. Murphy, 44, is a court of civil appeals judge. He attended The University of Houston and Bates College of Law. He replaces Martin Dies, Jr., whose term expired. William C. English of Kingsville to be a member of the Texas Surplus Property Agency for a six-year term extending to March 19, 1987. English, 56, is director of administration and financial planning for the University System of South Texas. He replaces Thomas M. Spencer of Pasadena, whose term expired. Jose M. Blanco, Jr. of Wharton to be a member of the Texas Amusement Machine Commission for a six-year term extending to January 31, 1987. Blanco, 41, is administrator for Cateja, a choose industry. He is being re- appointed to the commission. Jack H. Barton of Houston to be a member of the Family Farm Advisory Council for a six-year term extending to January 31, 1987. Barton, 59, is president and chief executive officer of Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of Texas. He is being reappointed to the council.
