RECOMMENDATION: That you make no statement that reflects that you have knowledge of what SEDCO's role in the IXTOC I drilling incident was after January 16, 1979. Joe Jamail, Attorney for Gulfcoast fishermen, has already publicly indicated his intention to depose you in his law suit against SEDCO. Committee on Aging Carlos Leon called Pete Collumb on Saturday, September 1 in the A.M., and tendered his verbal resignation. His resignation was properly accepted and a vacancy created. Pursuant to your conversation with Omar, Omar was appointed by you on September 1 to fill the vacancy. During the next week, Leon changed his story and said that he had no intention of resigning. Senator Tati Santiesteban has been injected into this situation and apparently would like to talk to you next week.
