February 13, 1980 MEMORANDUM TO: Governor William P. Clements, Jr. THRU: Linda Howell FROM: Edward O. Vetter SUBJECT: Advisory Committee Chairman The TENRAC Organization Rules require that advisory committees be chaired by members of TENRAC. We are proposing seven advisory committees and have sent a memo to the Lieutenant Governor and Tobin Armstrong with our initial recommendations. Originally we recommended Mack Wallace for the Committee on Coal and Lignite but the Lieutenant Governor thinks he would be good and useful as chairman of the Advisory Committee on Solar Energy. Assuming we use his recommendation, our best shot for Advisory Committee on Coal and Lignite would be Ed Cox since we already have Mike Halbouty on Petroleum and Natural Gas. Do you agree with this appointment and do you think Ed would have an inter- est in chairing this committee? We are avoiding using any of the four legislative members for committee chairmen since we don't think they would be able to spend much time on the function. Please advise. EOV:jw
