WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. GOVERNOR OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR STATE CAPITOL AUSTIN, TEXAS 78711 June 17, 1982 The Honorable Mark White Attorney General of Texas Supreme Court Building Austin, Texas 78711 Dear General White: In the one month period since you became the Democrat's nominee for Governor, you have written me twelve letters dealing with such matters as prisons, pro- bation and parole, permanent funding for non-PUF schools, rind the deterio- ration of our highways. It is obvious that your sudden interest in writing me on practically any matter of state concern is campaign motivated. Perhaps you are trying to get in a position where you can say "I told you so" if something develops on one of these matters in the future. If you really want to do something to help in these areas of concern to the state, you should give me your suggestions as to solutions, their costs, and source of funds to cover the costs. Sincerely, William P. Clements, Jr. Governor WPCJr:srh
