GOVERNOR'S CRIME STOPPERS ADVISORY COUNCIL WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. GOVERNOR TO: Coordinators of Local Crime Stoppers Programs FROM: Steve Cherry DATE: July 16, 1982 SUBJECT: Six Month Status Report The Texas Crime Stoppers Advisory Council has been in existence over six months, and I wanted to share some of our statistics with you. There are now over 70 local programs in operation across the state. As of June 30, 1982, Council staff has received and forwarded 1,062 tips to local Crime Stoppers programs and other law enforcement agencies. Result- ing from that information, law enforcement agencies have made 25 arrests and recovered $46,515.00 worth of stolen property and confiscated $563,510.00 worth of narcotics. I would also like to thank those of you who have been sending in your monthly statistical reports on a regular basis. Many of you have been contacted personally on this matter. The Council members are vitally interested in these statistics, as it enables them to mention the accomplishments of specific local programs during their many speaking engagements. A copy of the form is enclosed, should you need it. Please feel free to Xerox as many copies as you may need. Many local Crime Stoppers programs are still in the formative stages, and have no statistics as of yet. If you are in this category, please keep the form until such time as you may require it. Thank you for your support and assistance. SC:ve Enclosures MR. MAURICE ACERS, CHAIRMAN • MR. JAMES ALLEN LEINEN • MRS. CLEO PIERCE • LT. GEN. RAYMOND SHOEMAKER (U.S.A. RET.) • MR. 0. L. WATSON P.O.
