Bill cie- tnents Tuesday predicted laws will be introduced to restrict the sales of drug paraphernalia in Texas and to permit the use of wiretaps in cases Involving drug dealers. Cements and H. Ross Perot, chairman of .the Te7t71,----X-zr-o-ra Drugs Committee, addressed the problem, of drug trafficking and the selling of drug paraphernalia during a luncheon of the Greater Dallas Crime Commission and at a news conference'. The officials outlined a- three- pronged program to curb drug use and traffic in the state. "T cart guarantee that as long as I am governor. emphasis (on the drag problem) will Increase." When asked whether such legis- lation would endanger the privacy of the citizens of Texas he replied: "I think that kind of sentiment is sheer nonsense. It's not Invading anyone's privacy except the crimi- nals'. Personally It bores me to hear bleeding, heart statements from those. ST#10 oppose it." Perot said the program being de- veloped to deal with Texas' increas- ing drag problem will depend on grassroot support in the state. He said the first step will be to educate parents and children to the dangers of drug use. He said his committee also had organized a panel that will study na- tional laws dealing with drug use and drag trafficking. and compile a proposed set of laws for Texas. Perot said the third step In the pro- gram will be to get law enforcement agencies within the state to cooper- ate: in efforts to curb drug traffic and use in texas. • "The deck Is stacked against law enforcement agencies who work under increasingly restrictive laws,' Perot said. "The committee will study the /national laws and will put together a sat of laws that will make Texas f the worst state in the nation on drug dealers."•
