DEPAOMENTS OF THE ARMY AND THE AIPPORCE HEADQUARTERS ARMY AND AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE DALLAS, TEXAS 75222 Honorable William B. Clements, Jr. Deputy Secretary of Defense Room 3E 921, The Pentagon Washington, D. C. 20301 Dear Mr. Clements: ARMY & AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE This is written to express my regret that your busy schedule precluded the opportunity for a brief visit with you while I was in Washington on Monday of last week. I had hoped to briefly cover significant as- pects of the world-wide operation of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, to include an overview of our current problems. All of this was to be informative only, with the hope that you could visit our headquarters for a more detailed briefing here in Dallas. The Exchange Service is an important element of the military establishment and the Dallas business community. I believe you will find a briefing on its activities interesting, and I know that your visit would be very mean- ingful to our people. Although I will be retiring from the Air Force the end of this month, please consider this a standing invitation. Mrs. Campbell and I missed you at the dedication of the Natural History Museum at Clements Scout Reservation; however, we did see it later in the day and were both very much impressed with the lovely building and wildlife displayed therein. I'm certain our scouts will benefit greatly for many years. Because of our mutual interest in the scouting program, I shall be looking forward to seeing you here in Dallas. Sincerely, WILLIAM B. CAMPBELL Major General, USAF Commander
