ft Mr. W. P. Clements, Jr. 4622 Meadowood Road Dallas, Texas 75220 Dear Bill: March 8, 1973 We are delighted that you plan to be with us at the museum on April 14. It will be a great occasion! Please let me know the names of any special guests that you want invited. More than 1,000 Scouts and leaders were at Clements Scout Reservation for Tree Planting Day, February 24. We planted 20, 000 trees. Enclosed are a few pictures I took that day: 2. Arrival and unloading at Camp Cherokee. 4. Instructions in small groups by Buford MacLauchlin and others of Soil Conservation. I noted that the black boys had bought new plastic buckets for their great adventure in tree planting. 5. We used A. & M. College Extension service and a tree planter in open fields, It will put out 12, 000 trees per eight hours with two operators, with 99% success. A man in the back drops the trees in a furrow which is then covered automatically. 6. A lovely museum you have contributed. Waymon Peavy gave, and had planted, eight nice live oak trees. 7. A front view of the museum. 10. Trees at McElvaney Lake, now about 15 feet tall, planted our first year (1967). Your Dad had a great day there that year when PRESIDENT we had 1,400 Scouts and leaders there. William Pll be glad to get enlargements if you want any of these made. You are greatly appreciated!
