Clements, Jr., and Phillip Harman, chair of the Committee for Better Panama and United States Relations. Harman requests information about Clements' participation in the Panama Canal Treaty while serving as United States Deputy Secretary of Defense and introducing a clause, later removed, that would allow the United States to intervene in Panama to protect the Panama Canal. Other correspondents include Jeb Bush, Bob Dole, and Zbigniew Brzezinski. Included in correspondence are newspaper clippings, excerpts from William J. Jorden's "Panama Odyssey" and Admiral Thomas Moorer's introduction to Capt. G. Russell Evans' book "The Panama Canal Swindle." Also included is an excerpt of Harman's screenplay "The Great Panama Canal Ripoff."
