Correspondence between David Herndon and Senator Joseph R. Biden regarding criminal justice bills and issues, October 12, 1982
-
Description
-
Correspondence between David Herndon and Senator Joseph R. Biden regarding criminal justice bills and issues. David Herndon discusses Governor's interest in the following Senate bills: S.2572, S.186, and S.2411. For S.2572 "The Violent Crime and Drug Enforcement Improvement Act of 1982," Texas is studying the proposals within the bill and will be eager to comment on their findings. This legislation resembles Governor Clements creation of the Texans War on Drugs Committee and the correspondence includes the five anti-drug legislation items the committee passed. For S.186 "Prison Construction Bill," many states are increasing their construction and will need assistance from the federal government. And for S.2411 "Justice Assistance Act of 1982," Governor Clements was able to continue funding for the "Crime Control Act" and includes a copy of the bill.
