The decision was made to eliminate it and that decision should not be reversed. o The property tax is the most unpopular and unfair of all taxes. o Over the past 20 years property tax has been phased out as a revenue source for state government and is now revenue source solely for local government. o Universities outside the Permanent University Fund can be guaran- teed a steady funding source tor construction and major repairs without relying on the property tax. _
