March 19,1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments: James Roberts of Andrews to the Governor's Committee on Aging for a term to expire August 30, 1981. Roberts, 56, is president, editor and publisher of Roberts Publishing Company. The firm publishes 13 newspapers in West Texas. He will fill the unexpired term of Rufus Edmonds Palm of Fort Worth, who was appointed chairman of the committee, creating a vacancy on the committee. Eristus Sams of Waller to the Family Farm Advisory Council for a term to expire January 31, 1981. Sams, 65, is a farmer. He will fill the position of general farmer on the council. Mike B. Perez, Jr. of Laredo to the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education for a six-year term to expire June 11, 1985. Perez, 46, is Fire Chief of the Laredo Fire Department. He is being reappointed to the commission.
