Gibson, and Thomas Cue Baird to the Governing Board of the Texas School for the Blind, and Guy Eugene Shuttlesworth to the Texas Board of Licensure of Nursing Home Administrators.
OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR . October 30 , 1979 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the following appointments: Gwendolyn Caldwell Morrison,29 , of Fort Worth, for a six-year term, expiring August 31, 1985, on the Texas College and University System Coordinating Board. Mrs. Morrison, employee relations counselor for Radio-Shack, will replace Dr. George V. Brindley, Jr. of Temple, whose term expired. Sue Killam, 60, of Laredo, for a six-year term ,expiring August 31, 1985, on the Board of Regents of the University System of South Texas. Mrs. Killam will replace Ralph Durden of Corpus Christi, whose term expired. Dorothy Jo Knight of Lubbock, John Watson of Sulphur Springs, Olivia Chavez Blundell of El Paso, Jack English of Dallas, Mary Lillian Anderson of Lewisville, Dr. Joe D. Hewett of Waco, Dr. Virginia Sowell of Lubbock, William P. Gibson of Houston, and Thomas Cue Baird of Temple to the newly-created Governing Board of the Texas School For The Blind. Knight, 46, is an elementary school teacher. Watson, 37, manages a cafeteria at Rockwell International plant. Mrs. Blundell, 29, is regional consultant for the visually handicapped for Region 19 education service center. Knight, Watson, and Mrs. Blundell will serve two-year terms, expiring January 31, 1981. English, 41, is coordinator for the South Central Regional Center Services to Deaf and Blind Children. Mrs. Anderson, 52, is a special education teacher at an elementary school. Dr. Hewett, 51, teaches the mentally retarded. English, Mrs. Anderson, and Dr. Hewett will serve four-year terms to expire January 31, 1983. Dr. Sowell, 48, is assistant professor, special education at Texas Tech University. Gibson , 61, is an attorney for Texaco. Baird, 27, is an attorney. Dr. Sowell, Gibson, and Baird will serve six-year terms to expire January 31, 1985. Dr.Guy Eugene Shuttlesworth, 49, of Smithville for a six-year term, expiring January 31, 1985, on the Texas Board of Licensure of Nursing Home Administrators. Shuttlesworth is associate professor of School of Social Work and co-director of The Gerontology Project at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Shuttlesworth will replace Dr. David B. Oliver, who resigned from the Educator position on the board.
