Cantu, Lee Kitchens, and Jerry Glenn Hassell to the Texas Planning Council for Development Disabilities.
OFFICE OF GOVERNOR WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR. August 14, 1980 For immediate release: Governor Bill Clements announced the designation of Laurance N. Nickey, M.D. of El Paso to be Vice Chairman of the Texas Board of Health. Dr. Nickey, 49, is a pediatrician. He will replace William J. Foran of Amarillo, who was named Chairman of the Board on July 25, 1980. Governor Clements also announced the following appointments: Rex Alford of Houston to the Environmental Protection Committee of the Interstate Oil Compact Commission for a term at the pleasure of the Governor. Alford, 62, is manager of industry, conservation and environmental affairs for Conoco, Inc. Judy Wingard of Austin, Bernie L. Cantu of San Antonio, Lee Kitchens of Lubbock and Jerry Glenn Hassell of Austin to the Texas Planning Council for Developmental Disabilities. Ms.Wingard, 31, is a counselor intern at Texas Rehabilitation Commission. She will replace Jim B. Grey of Fort Worth, whose term expired. Cantu, 26, is a planner in the Handicap Access Office of the City of San Antonio. He will replace W. D. O'Neill of Victoria, whose term expired. Kitchens, 50, is engineering manager at Texas Instruments. He is being appointed to a new position on the Council. Wingard, Cantu and Kitchens will serve six-year terms to expire July 29, 1986. Hassell, 51, is a teacher at Texas School for the Deaf. He will fill the unexpired term of Gerald Dubinski, Sr. of San Antonio, who resigned. Hassell will serve a six-year term to expire July 29, 1985.
