THE STATE OF TEXAS EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR AUSTIN, TEXAS FEBRUARY 8, 1979 EXECUTIVE ORDER WPC- 2 ABOLISHING THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN WHEREAS, the Texas Commission on the Status of Women was created by Executive Order of the Governor D.B. No. 32 as amended by D.B. No. 32-B. WHEREAS, the Legislature has not seen fit to create and fund a statutory Commission. WHEREAS, the Commission has been relatively inactive and beset with internal problems. WHEREAS, the duties of the Commission represent duplication of activities being discharged by other agencies and institutions. NOW, THEREFORE, I, William P. Clements, Jr., Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me, do hereby abolish the Texas Commission on the Status of Women and revoke and rescind and declare null and void Executive Order No. D.B. No. 32 as amended by D.B. No. 32-6. This Executive Order shall be effective immediately. Given under my hand this 8th day of February, 1979. WILLIAM P. CLEMENTS, JR.
