September 26, 1979 For immodiate release: Governor Bill Clements today announced the appointment of Robert McQueen, Jr. as Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Equal Employment Opportunity. This office is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and providing technical assistance to all State agencies. McQueen, 34, was born in Camden, Texas and attended Chester High School in Chester, Texas. He received a B. S. degree in Engineering Technology from Texas Southern University and a M. S. degree in Engineering Technology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He also studied at Vickers Hydraulics School in Troy, Michigan; Electronic Research and Development Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland; The University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida; and ITT Hamilton Management Corporation in Houston. He served as a Securities and Investment Broker and a member of the National Association of Security Dealers. From 1970 - 1979, McQueen was a professor in Engineering Technology at Texas Southern University where he developed a Cooperative Education Program. McQueen also served as Director of the Career Planning and Placement Center at TSU. In 1978, he served as chairman of the Electronic and Drafting Department at Alcorn A & M University in Lorman, Mississippi. McQueen was one of 24 American students selected to participate in the Wayne State University graduate Experienced Teacher Fellowship Program. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, an honorary society in education at Wayne State University. # # #
