BIOGRAPHICAL RESUME OF KARL ROVE Karl Rove, a 31-year old Austin businessman,is president of a direct marketing firm. The company specializes in membership programs and fundraising programs for universities, foundations, and other non-profit organizations. Mr. Rove previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Assistant for the Administration of Governor Bill Clements. In this post he handled, among other things, redistricting for the Governor during the 1982 Legis- lative Session. Mr. Rove was also previously an aide to George Bush and a legislative aide to a U. S. Congressman. Mr. Rove was a speaker of the 1976 Republican National Convention and in 1980, he was Director of the Texas Victory Committee for Reagan/Bush. Mr. Rove was twice elected to two-year terms as Chairman of the College Republican National Committee, the nation's largest student political organi- zation. As Chairman, he was a member of the' 15-person Republican National Executive Committee. At the time of his selection, he was the youngest member in the Executive Committee's history. Mr. Rove served as Executive Director of the National Republican Party's college program. Mr. Rove was President of the U. S. Youth Council, a coordinating council of student and youth groups involved in international exchanges. Groups as diverse as the College Republicans, NAACP, and various labor groups comprise the Youth Council's membership. Mr. Rove is currently on the Texas Women's University Board of Regents. He is the youngest Regent in the history of TWU. He also serves as Treasurer of the Texas Womens' Employment and Education project (TWEE), a welfare reform program designed to help women on AFDC aid obtain jobs.
