Edward H. Zunker, O.D. I would like to correct a statement I made when we met in your office on June 4, 1987, and we spoke of the AIDS problem in Texas. I believe I said that "everyone who is infected with the HIV virus will develop the disease of AIDS*14. rwis-si'T"--5=77EaT-We- disease hasn't been with us long enough to know that for certain. We do know that approximately 40 percent of infected persons will develop AIDS within eight years. We are not certain what happens to the others, many may utlimately develop the disease--perhaps not all. It is clear, however, that all who are infected. (having the virus in their blood) are capable of i-Freiaing the dfis.. There are people i who have been infected since g/8 and are stil symptom-free. Doctor Frank Bryant and I appreciated the visit and discussion, particularly your interest in this horrendous public health problem. Warm regards to you and Rita.
