June 24, 19b1 The President The White House Washington, D. C., 20500 Dear Mr. President: You will recall that durina the campaign we discussed the advisability of reconstituting the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (PFIAC). Later, during the transition period, we talked about this again and I strongly recommended that you re-form PFIAB as quickly as possible. I now understand that you are in the process of selecting members and a chairman for this group. I also understand that there are several people from Texas being considered for membership, as well as for the chairmanship. Before any of these members from Texas are chosen, including the chairman, I ask that you contact me so that we can have a discussion concerning these individuals. As you know, I was intimately connected with the intelligence community for four years during my role as Deputy Secretary of Defense, and I would like very much to consult with you before you decide on any membership from Texas. With every good wish and great respect! Best regards, William P. Clements, Jr. Governor WPC,Jr.:jh
