w RECORD /ACCOMPLISHMENTS 21. Help to Older Texans: 1. Creation of Department of Aging 2. Appointment of Long-Term Care Planning Commission. Paul Wrotenbery, Chairman, all agencies concerned with elderly represented. They must work together to provide better service. Report due January 1982. 3. Passed legislation providing protective services for abused elderly. 4. Increased penalties for offenses against the elderly. 5. Supports and makes #1 priority alternate care for the elderly to help them stay in their own homes as long as possible. Makes nursing home a last resort. 6. Supported constitutional amendment allowing cities to grant 40% exemptions on homesteads. 7. Supported legislation allowing sale of generic drugs. 8. Supported legislation requiring disclosure of ownership of retirement villages.
